Position Title: Anticipated Lecturer (AY 2008-09)

Description: The Global Arts Studies Program seeks lecturers to teach courses for AY 2008-09:

  • ethnomusicology (preference for Asia or Middle East specialists)
  • musicology/ sound culture for the Arts and Technology series
  • art history/ visual culture (preference for Asian Pacific, Latin America or Middle East specialists)
In addition to teaching the course, the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor is expected to be available to meet with students outside the classroom for at least two hours per week. The instructor may also be required to supervise a graduate student teaching assistant, if available.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the Agreement for the Lecturers Unit between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers.

Qualifications: Ph.D. and experience teaching at the college or university level is required. Must provide a record of excellence in teaching.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience starting at $42,074 annually.
